UZH for Researchers

UZH 3R 2023 Award Videos 1/2

UZH is developing alternative methods to animal experiments in line with the 3Rs principle. To highlight outstanding achievements of its members in the field of 3Rs, the university has introduced the UZH 3R Award. Melanie Generali is one of the 3R award winners. In the video she explains how stem cell research can reduce animal experiments.

Induced pluripotent stem cells, or iPSCs, can in some cases replace laboratory animals in biomedical research. Melanie Generali has founded the iPSC Core Facility (iPSCore) at the Institute of Regenerative Medicine (IREM) of the University of Zurich, which is a unique research facility in Switzerland that supports researchers in producing and working with iPSCs.
