A world without glaciers: UZH researcher outlines the scenario on SRF

What would the world look like if all the world's glaciers melted? This is the question addressed by the SRF programme "10 vor 10" in the Thursday, 21.03.2024 edition. Dr Michael Zemp, UZH glaciologist and Director of the WGMS, makes it clear in the interview: including the polar ice caps, sea levels are expected to rise by 64.5 meters.

If glaciers are the world's memory, then the WGMS is its language tool

The World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS) collects and analyzes glacier data from all over the world. As a UZH technology platform service, the statistical information on the world's ice surfaces is accessible to anyone and everyone. Thanks to their tireless collection and analysis, the UZH researchers at the WGMS are able to outline a concrete scenario of the changes the world would face in the article.
